Early season archery finally returns and with it comes a sweaty brow and pesky bugs to contend with. But if the avid archer did his or her home work by pinpointing key ambush points, travel routes, bedding areas and food sources, it should be a breeze, God willing. So this week on The Revolution with Jim and Trav presented by Outdoor Channel, Sportsman Channel and World Fishing Network, the boys and their elite panel of pros' have prepared a last minute check list to ensure your success. Here's the rundown: Mike Eastman of Eastmans' Hunting TV  will set the stage with practical how-to's for taggin' and baggin' trophy public land mule deer. Cinch Brand Manager Jill Gechter will get us outfitted with the latest Cinch hunting apparel and boots that work just as hard as we hunt. Jim Scoutten of Shooting USA will briefly turn our attention to hunting with modern sporting rifles and the many advantages they offer, and finally our very own Mrs. Bunny will keep us consistently hitting the ten ring with DIY tips for tuning your bow and arrows.

It stands to reason that the longer you work at perfecting a particular skill, the better you’ll become at it. This theory holds true for outdoor legend Mike Eastman, a fifth-generation westerner that grew up in the wilderness of Wyoming and has been exploring the backcountry since the age of 14. His years of experience in the woods has made him a skilled and accomplished hunter, widely known for his ability to stalk and harvest trophy-class, western big game. Mike as well as Guy and Ike Eastman appear on Eastmans’ Hunting TV on Outdoor Channel teaching their audience do-it-yourself, fair chase, wilderness backcountry tactics that hunters need to successfully hunt out west. Don’t miss valuable advice from an accomplished pro as Mike joins Jim and Trav and discusses the things hunters need to focus on when they head west to chase mule deer. To begin with, Mike emphasizes the need to follow a few rules, the first of which is to specialize in a particular terrain. He encourages hunters to hunt the same area over and over again, year after year and to keep a notebook and log of the activity, patterns and behavior of the deer. He also recommends spending an adequate amount of time, 2 to 3 days, scouting from a good vantage point with a spotting scope where you can watch and pattern the deer before you set out to stalk one. He also explains why whitetail hunters may blow their opportunity to take a mule deer by trying to get to close. Don’t miss this two-part interview jam packed with tips that are sure to elevate your game this season.

Jim Scoutten of Shooting USA dives headfirst into the world of modern sporting rifles and he dissects the common AR-15 and its older sibling the AR-10. Jim has long since been a champion of the AR platform and he speaks to their convenience, comfort and ease of use. For hunting, Mr. Scoutten says that it's essential to take enough caliber in the woods for a good clean ethical shot. That’s why, in a hunting scenario, he prefers the AR-10 because at a minimum it comes chambered in a .308, which is plenty capable in the hands of a proficient shooter. Another route to take, Jim says, is the Smith & Wesson M&P15 .300 blackout, which is a 30 caliber bullet that fits right into the AR-15 magazine. Of course, the felt recoil of the .300 Blackout will be quite a significant jump from the bigger and heavier AR-10 frame, Jim concludes, and that's something to consider for shooters that tend to be squeamish with kick. Jim Scoutten, is America’s best known shooting sports reporter and firearms expert and for 24 consecutive years, Jim has dedicated himself to unfolding the history of firearms and educating the masses on new innovations, techniques and self-defense.

Hunters and outdoorsmen need apparel that works just as hard as they do, clothing that shields them from the elements, but doesn’t restrict them. Since 1996, the Cinch Clothing brand has been creating high quality jeans and apparel and more recently they’ve expanded their line to include apparel geared toward hunters and outdoor enthusiasts. Jill Gechter is the Brand Manager at Miller International Inc., and she’ll join The Revolution to spotlight some great Cinch apparel that should be in every outdoorsman’s closet. Tune in as she talks about great layering pieces for men from the Antler Print Shirt and Full Zip Color Blocked Raglan Hoodie to the Mid-Weight Bonded Fleece in Xtra Camo Full Zip. All of these options are great for layering and can be worn in and out of the field. Jill will also discuss the Sawyer Loose Fit Jean specially designed with extra room and comfort making them great for climbing trees, sitting in duck blinds and more. She’ll then turn our attention to footwear with the WRX Commander Boots available for both men and women. The Commander is available with and without camo and features superior comfort, lightweight, flexible construction making it a great boot for hunters who spend a lot of time beating new paths chasing wild game. She’ll then end with some options for female hunters. The 1/2 Zip Fleece Pullover and Xtra Bonded Jacket which are designed with a woman’s body in mind and cut to fit and flatter. In addition, the Xtra Bonded Jacket is equipped with concealed carry pockets.

Tune in for a look at some great, light weight, early season apparel options from Cinch.
