It wasn't on Jackass, and it didn't seem to be that dangerous of a stunt in the first place.
But it proved fatally ironic nonetheless, as a Brazilian man caught a sole fish, bet his friends that he could hold it in his teeth for a minute and eventually choked to death as the fish wriggled down his throat and into his windpipe. According to the Telegraph, the man was able to get in his car and drive to a local hospital, but when he arrived he passed out and died.
Icapui police chief Carlos Alberto said the medical staff was able to remove the small sole from the man's throat, but not in time to save his life. No one is really sure what motivated the bizarre bet in the first place.
"It was a silly thing to do," Alberto said, "but he didn't deserve to die because of it."
To make the saga even weirder, the man's wife went on a social network and said that her only consolation was that she was a great wife. She made no comment as to why her husband was trying to hold a fish in his mouth.
