Following a winter lull, spring time brings rapid change for fish and fishermen. Massive strikes and consistent success is found in an angler’s ability to excel in a wide range of presentations and his or hers ability to focus their efforts on the haunts fish reside in this time of year. So, we’ve cornered the fishing industry’s upper echelon to drop their bare bones fishing bombs on our May angling game. Joining us for an exclusive two-part interview will be Dave Mercer of Dave Mercer’s Facts of Fishing, Carter Andrews from The Obsession of Carter Andrews and Mark Zona of Zona’s Awesome Fishing Show. This week’s broadcast of The Revolution with Jim and Trav is presented by Outdoor Channel, Sportsman Channel, World Fishing Network and MyOutdoorTV.
If you’re looking for a great spot to key in on fish, without having to cover a lot of water looking for them, then dock fishing might be right up your alley. Mark Zona, host of Zona’s Awesome Fishing Show on Outdoor Channel and World Fishing Network, recently dedicated a whole episode to dock fishing. Tune in as Mark discusses the high points with Jim and Trav this week on The Revolution. “Every single boat dock is a strike zone. If you can get efficient and effective enough to put your lure under a boat dock, the better percentage chance you have of getting a bite and really catching gigantic fish.” He’ll explain how to achieve this method, what lures to use and why the shallowest and most ignored boat docks are sometimes the best.
What is the secret to fishing the ever-changing weather that spring brings? Tune in as Dave Mercer, host of Dave Mercer’s Facts of Fishing on Outdoor Channel and World Fishing Network, spills his best tips for mastering the water right now. Dave tells Jim and Trav that too many people focus on the temperature, however what is more important to fish is stability. Dave says his go-to spring baits are crankbaits and swimbaits because of their ability to effectively cover enough water to find the fish, but allow you to do it slowly. Tune in as Dave dishes on spinnerbaits, matching your baits to those that are the most realistic for spring presentation and finally, why it’s important to fish your own natural style.
If you have never tried your hand at snook fishing, now is the time to get down to Florida and give it a shot. Carter Andrews, host of The Obsession of Carter Andrews on Outdoor Channel, stops by The Revolution this week to talk about this fickle fish. “Right now, we are in the pre-spawn stage, and fish are congregating in areas so they’re a little bit easier to catch.” Carter says there are plenty of bait fish and that the snook are on the hunt before the spawn. He’ll dish on what kind of artificials to throw and also explain why he prefers live bait to get a commanding bite. Finally, he’ll help anglers focus their efforts on where to find snook right now.
