Legendary shooter Annie Oakley's Parker Brothers shotgun recently sold for $143,400 on Sunday at a Dallas auction.

The 12-gauge shotgun is believed to be the same gun Oakley used during Queen Victoria's Golden Jubilee in 1887 while Oakley toured with Buffalo Bill Cody's Wild West show.

The shotgun, along with some rifles, letters and photographs belonging to Oakley, were sold Sunday at a Dallas auction organized by Oakley's great-grandnieces, who inherited the collection from their mother. One of the rifles, a Marlin .22-caliber, sold for $83,650, while Oakley's Stetson hat sold for $17,925. Altogether, the collection sold for $518,875.

"We had decades worth of treasures in steamer trunks," said Terrye Holcomb, one of Oakley's great-grandnieces. "My mother cherished her family, and when the family passed, this is what she clung to."

Oakley was a famed sharpshooter who displayed her skill at an early age. She set shooting records well into her 60s, all the while campaigning for women's rights to work, participate in sports and shoot. She died at the age of 66 in 1926.
