Months of work have finally paid off – you’ve scouted, reviewed trail camera footage, spent endless hours in the field and as a result you have filled your tag. Congratulations hunter, but the work isn’t done yet! This week on The Revolution with Jim & Trav, it’s all about what happens after the shot. We’ll cover field dressing, processing/butchering your own wild game, making sausage and jerky, plus, we’ll even do a little DIY taxidermy. Included in our panel of pros this week will be Jim Shockey, host of Jim Shockey’s Hunting Adventures and Jim Shockey’s UNCHARTED on Outdoor Channel and Hans Hummel, President of Hi Mountain Seasonings. Finally, Billy Hayes from Nissan North America, Inc., will touch on the award-winning TITAN. The Revolution is presented by Outdoor Channel, Sportsman Channel, World Fishing Network and MyOutdoorTV.
There may not be a more recognizable face in the hunting industry today, than that of Jim Shockey. Fans and followers have come to know Jim with his iconic cowboy hat and red bandana through his popular television shows Jim Shockey’s Hunting Adventures as well as Jim Shockey’s UNCHARTED both seen on Outdoor Channel. The most recent issue of Outdoor Life titled, “The Influencers”, features Shockey on the cover with an extensive article inside that details the last 30 years he has spent in the outdoors and explores the lasting impact he has had. If you haven’t already seen it, it’s a great read and we encourage you to check it out. This week on The Revolution, Jim Shockey will join Jim and Trav for and extended two-part interview. While many may know him just as a television personality, Jim is actually an outfitter by trade and has been taking other hunters on adventures for 25 years in the Yukon and British Colombia. He discusses his outfitting business and reflects on his rise in the industry saying that he believes the secret to his success through the years has been his “What you see is what you get” personality and complete honesty. Jim also talks about the role that meat plays in hunting and how there isn’t any domestic animal he would rather eat himself or feed to his family. He’ll explain how introducing meat eating non-hunters to wild game could make them believers and boost the number of active hunters. Tune in for an interesting conversation with the one and only, Jim Shockey, this week on The Revolution.

Hunters across the country are filling their tags and bag limits and stock piling wild game meat in the freezer. With a fresh supply of protein at your fingertips, the only question is what to make. Hans Hummel is the President and Owner of Hi Mountain Seasonings where they specialize in creating custom seasonings, rubs, marinades and more to elevate the flavor of your meat. Tune in this week as Hans talks with Jim and Trav about jerky, Snackin’ Sticks and sausages. In many cases, the process of making any of these crowd pleasers can seem intimidating so hunters choose not to try, and instead leave it to their local butcher, or worse yet, they don’t do it at all! However, Hans says that the process isn’t that complicated and that their all-inclusive kits really take the guess work out of it. Hans will walk us through the jerky making process, starting with preparing your meat, then using Hi Mountain Seasonings Jerky Cure and Seasoning Kits to customize your flavor, and even the ability to choose the quantity you want to make. They’ll also talk about making bacon as well as the different seasonings available and the versatility of using them on not only meats, but vegetables and other dishes. Tune in to find out how to spice up your next meal!
