New Mexico Basset Hound Eats $4,500 Wedding Ring

Diamonds aren't forever'¦at least that's what Scott Atkinson was hoping when he and his wife Rachelle figured out that their 10-month-old basset hound, Coraline, had swallowed Rachelle's $4,500 wedding ring.

According to KOB-TV, the playful pup snatched the ring from a nightstand and after an endless search turned up nothing, the couple began to suspect that their dog was the culprit.

Showing what true love is, Scott mined for diamonds for the next 10 days through Coraline's droppings, but turned up nothing. A trip to the vet and an x-ray later showed the ring, still snug in the bowels of the basset hound.

After putting Coraline under, the vet was able to retrieve the ring and both the dog and diamonds are better than ever.
