2018 Bassmaster Classic Host Announced

The recognized world championship of bass fishing will be held on Lake Hartwell in 2018, B.A.S.S. announced Wednesday.

The 2016 Bassmaster Classic was held on Grand Lake O’ the Cherokees near Tulsa, Okla.

The 48th Bassmaster Classic is scheduled for March 16-18, 2018 on the large (56,000 acres) reservoir located on the Georgia-South Carolina line.

Greenville, S.C. is the host city, tournament organizers said in a press release, and Greenville’s Bon Secours Wellness Arena will be the site of daily weigh-in ceremonies.

This will be the third time Classic will be held at Hartwell, which hosted in 2008 and 2015.

This year’s Classic is scheduled March 24-26 at Lake Conroe, Texas, located near Houston. The 2016 Classic, held at Grand Lake O’ the Cherokees near Tulsa, Okla., was won by Edwin Evers.

The last time the Classic was held at Lake Hartwell (2015), Casey Ashley caught more than 50 pounds of bass over three days to win the first prize of $300,000.

Texas pro Alton Jones won the 2008 Hartwell Classic.

The popular Bassmaster Classic Outdoors Expo will be held in the TD Convention Center in Greenville, March 16-18.
