Young Starts Kentucky Season With Victory
David Young opened up a new season by winning the Toyota Tundra Bassmaster Weekend Series, operated by American Bass Anglers, Kentucky Division 15 tournament, held March 16, 2013, on Kentucky Lake.
Running out of Kentucky Dam State Park Ramp near Gilbertsville, the Mayfield, Ky., angler caught five bass weighing 29.42 pounds for a 5.88-pound average. He anchored his bag with a 7.32-pound kicker that took the Boater Division big bass title.
In second for the boaters, Chris S. Blackwell of Clarksville, Tenn., found a five-bass tournament limit weighing 23.38 pounds with a 5.16-pound kicker. David Gnewikow of Mount Juliet, Tenn., landed in third with a five-bass limit going 21.38 pounds. Andrew “Fish” M. Fish of Buchanan, Tenn., placed fourth among the boaters with five bass at 18 20 pounds, followed by Brian R. Brown of Kuttawa, Ky., with five bass and 19.75 pounds including a 5.18-pound kicker.
In the Co-Angler Division, Robby Hand of Clarksville, Tenn., won with three bass weighing 14.12 pounds for a 4.71-pound average. He greatly upped his average with an 8.94-pounder that also won the tournament lunker title.
In second for the co-anglers, David B. Carroll of Manitou, Ky., found a three-bass division limit weighing 13.86 pounds, followed by Tyler W. Zschiedrich of Seymour, Ind., with three bass and 13.08 pounds including a 4.89-pound kicker. Scott D. Brison of Clarksville, Tenn., landed a three-bass limit going 12.95 pounds topped by a 6.31-pound kicker. Spencer Turner of Greenville, Ky., rounded out the top five co-anglers with three bass at 11.49 pounds.
