WFN is Searching for the Canadian Ultimate Fishing Town
Winning Community Receives $25,000 Donation and a 30-Minute TV Show About Their Town on WFN
TORONTO - WFN: World Fishing Network, North America's only 24-hour fishing lifestyle network, today announced that beginning July 1, the Network is accepting nominations for communities across the nation who feel they live in WFN's Ultimate Fishing Town. The winning community will receive a $25,000 donation to be used towards fishing -related cause(s) and have a 30-minute feature show about fishing in their town air on WFN. There is also over $7,500 in Secondary prizes to be won.
To nominate a town, go to www.wfn.tv/fishingtown. Nominations can include up to three photos, a two-minute video and a 500 word essay about why they believe their town is WFN's Ultimate Fishing Town.
"As the number one participation sport in Canada, fishing is a key part of the summer experience," said Mark Rubinstein, President and CEO of World Fishing Network. "Knowing this, and that more people fish than play golf and tennis combined, we decided to search for WFN's Ultimate Fishing Town. We want people to get behind their towns, communities and cities and prove that they deserve the title of ultimate fishing town."
Once a town has been nominated, anyone can support their town's nomination by uploading additional stories, photos and videos. The nomination period runs from July 1st to August 2nd, followed by the first round of public voting on August 3rd. At the end of the voting period, six towns (the top two vote-getters in each region) and four wild card towns selected by WFN will make it to the final round. After another round of public voting, one town will earn the title of WFN's Ultimate Fishing Town.
To support this initiative, WFN is airing 30-second promo spots, print ads and a targeted online campaign. Various TV providers are supporting the contest with additional online and on-air inventory, including a free preview of WFN from July 1st to August 24th.
