Week 2 Report - February 2012

Offshore, the week ended with wind and some rough seas. Kingfish were in 70-150 feet. The sailfish bite seemed to slow down a little. Dorado were biting bare and skirted baits on the troll in 120 to 180 feet and live bait in schools. On the reefs and wrecks mutton snapper and jacks were biting in 60-80?feet with some passing cobia.

Near shore, along the beaches, piers and in the inlet, bluefish, pompano, jacks and snappers were hitting cut bait, sand fleas and shrimp. Snook and tarpon were chasing bait along the beach, in the inlet and around bridges and docks.

In Freshwater, in the canals the bass bite seemed to heat up. Snook were biting in some canals along with peacock bass. Hard and soft plastics, spinner baits, jigs and live shiners produced good results.
