Walmart BFL Rolling Through Lake Eufaula
The Walmart Bass Fishing League is headed to Lake Eufaula April 2 for the second of five stops in the Bama Division. As many as 400 boaters and co-anglers will be competing for top awards up to $9,500 and $3,000, respectively.
"This is going to be a sight fishing tournament," said Straight Talk pro Scott Canterbury of Springville, Ala. "All the big bass are going to be up on the beds, I'm talking about 7 to 8 pounders. Sure wish I were fishing the tournament.
"With the fish up on the beds primary baits are going to be swimbaits and spinnerbaits," Canterbury added. "The shad spawn could also be going on and if that is the case, the lake is really going to be on fire. This is just a really great time of year to be on Eufaula. It's going to take over 25 pounds to win."
Takeoffs and weigh-ins will be at Lakepoint Resort State Park located at 104 Lakepoint Drive in Eufaula. Takeoff is scheduled for 6:30 a.m. while weigh-in will begin at 2:30 p.m. Takeoffs and weigh-ins are free and open to the public.
The Lake Eufaula BFL tournament is being hosted by the Eufaula Barbour County Chamber of Commerce.
The BFL is a 24-division circuit devoted to weekend anglers, offering bigger prizes to those who qualify for regional championships and those who make it to one of the longest-running championships in all of competitive bass fishing - the Walmart BFL All-American presented by Chevy. Top winners in the BFL can move up to the EverStart Series or even the Walmart FLW Tour.
