Top IGFA Record Catches of 2012
It?s hard to believe, but 2012 is about to come to a close. As the new year fast approaches, WFN has compiled a list of some of the top record catches that were recognized by the IGFA over the past year. Some are beautiful, some are unusual, but all of them are very, very impressive.
Patrick Sebile is a name that anglers will instantly recognize. He?s the creator and designer of some of the best lures on the market. On May 6, he landed this incredible largemouth bass while fishing in Florida?s Lake Okeechobee. It measured in at 61 cm and was caught using a Sebile Proppler Buzz.
This beautiful golden trout was caught by Rick Mickelsen on June 22. He caught the monster in Wyoming?s Golden Lake, using a nymph fly. It measured in at 54 cm and is currently undergoing the review process for all-tackle (length) world record.
Peter F. Binaski landed two potential records within a day of each other. On May 25, he caught a walleye that measured in at 54 cm while fishing at Minnesota?s Lake of the Woods. The next day, May 26, he landed a lake trout that measured in at 82 cm. The fish was also caught in Lake of the Woods, but this time in Ontario, Canada.
This beautiful blue peacock was caught in Brazil?s Serra de Mesa Lake by Fabricio Bigua. It weighed 10 lbs, measured 61 cm, and was caught using an Imakatsu Trairao.
Scott Tindale was fishing at New Zealand?s Sue?s Rock when he landed this gemfish. It weighed 17 lbs, 8 oz, measured in at 100 cm, and was caught using skipjack tuna.
