The New York Sportfishing Federation Forum and Auction

The New York Sportfishing Federation Forum & Auction will be held at the Freeport Recreation Center on February 18, 19 and 20, featuring seminars by the region's top fishermen and great deals on sportfishing products and services.

"Now in its 29th year, the New York Sportfishing Federation Forum & Auction at the Freeport Recreation Center is the 'can't miss' sportfishing event of the year in New York," said Jim Hutchinson, president of the New York Sportfishing Federation (Federation) and Managing Director of the Recreational Fishing Alliance (RFA).

The show opens on Friday afternoon at 2 p.m. with a good crowd expected early as anglers search out the best early deals to be found among the 50 exhibitor booths, with a happy-hour seminar by Newsday outdoor columnist and author Tom Schlichter.

Sunday wraps up with a gigantic fishing auction at 2:30 as nearly a hundred fishing related items and trips go up for bid, including autographed artwork by Carey Chen, a once-in-a-lifetime trip to Tanaku Lodge in Alaska, a shot at giant bluefin tuna on the Outer Banks, top-of-the-line rods & reels, as well as guided trips throughout the New York marine district!

"All proceeds from the three-day show and auction will benefit the Federation and our ongoing efforts to protect and serve the sportfishing community throughout the New York coastal district," said Hutchinson, while adding"show visitors need to stop by the Federation/RFA booth when they come through the door to see about our door prize giveaway." Hutchinson said an OHO Captain's Bag filled with Timber wood plugs and Tsunami lures will be given out as a door prize at the end of the show, while new and renewing RFA members could also win a win a new $600 Lamiglas Crazy Alberto Knie Extreme Series 10-foot surf rod for the 2011 season.

"The RFA and Federation have partnered with the first booth in the main exhibit area where we also have reduced ticket prices for sale for the March 11th Islanders vs. Bruins hockey matchup and sportfishing fundraiser at Nassau Coliseum," Hutchinson said.
