As the first group of Major League Fishing GEICO Select pros pulled into the Mosquito Creek Lake boat ramp to kick off the 2016 Bass Pro Shops Challenge Select in Youngstown, Ohio, well-known pro Gerald Swindle made a troubling discovery.
“I stayed up until midnight putting together an MLF tacklebox for today and I just realized I left it in my personal boat, which is back at the hotel in the parking lot,” Swindle said in disgust.
“Now all I have to fish with are the lures I have tied on my rods. The only thing I managed to put in here in my sleep-deprived state this morning was a couple of bags of plastics. So, to start my day, I can just sit here and watch other guys tie on lures that I wish I had.”
Long-time friend and Select competitor Scott Suggs was the first to start needling Swindle about his small oversight.

“Hey, Midnight,” Suggs chuckled. “You look a little sleepy. Did you forget something? Hey, I’m sure by the first period break some of us guys will let you borrow some of our lures – the stuff laying in the bottom of our boats that didn’t work in period one.”
As Swindle peered out at the dark lake he concluded that he wouldn’t know what to tie on anyway.
