Sandlin Wins Arkansas Divisional Championship

Division 47, Arkansas, had its two-day ABA divisional championship tournament on Lake Ouachita this past weekend. In the end, Derek Sandlin of Mt Ida, Arkansas took home the $988 first-place prize with five-fish limits both days for a total weight of 28.06 pounds. His total included the Day 2 and tournament best bass of 4.25 pounds, which earned him an extra $90.


Sandlin caught all his fish on a finesse Black?s Widow Maker tipped with Strike King Shadalicious swimbaits.

Doug Thompson of Mabelvale, Arkansas grabbed second place with a total weight of 17.42 pounds and took home $518. John Simonof of Jacksonville, Arkansas earned third place and $168 with 16.51 pounds and $90 for the Day-1 big bass of 4.02 pounds.

In total, 18 anglers weighed in 96 fish over two days for a total weight of183.92 pounds. 

Jamey Black earned 1185 points and was crowned the Division 47 Angler of the Year. He will represent D47 at the American Bass Anglers Angler of the Year tournament held in Oklahoma this October where the winner will receive a fully rigged tournament ready Triton Boat powered by a Mercury Motor.


These anglers acquired valuable points to insure their entry into the American Fishing Tour National Championship that will be held on Grand Lake, OK in the October of 2012. The winner of the National Championship will be given a berth into 2012 Bassmaster Weekend Series National Championship held on Sam Rayburn in November 2012.
