Results from King Kat Event in Arkansas
This past Saturday September 25th the Cabela's King Kat Tournament Trail hit the waters of the Arkansas River at Pine Bluff, Arkansas where anglers from 8 different states were competing not only for cash and prizes, but the opportunity to qualify for the 2010 Cabela's King Kat Classic. This year's Cabela's King Kat Classic will be held on the Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway at Columbus, Mississippi November 12-13, 2010.
Results for the Top 5 Teams
Taking first place was the team of Mark Farrow of Meredosia, Illinois and Jerry Cline of Springfield, Illinois with an impressive weight of 85.35 pounds and earning $2,500.00. Mark and Jerry also captured big fish of the event with a 50 pound catfish which earned them an additional $500.00. Mark and Jerry were fishing the pool below Pine Bluff in 20-30 feet of water using shad, skipjack, bluegill and mooneye as bait. The team caught a total of 10 fish throughout the day including their 50 pound big fish of the event. Each team is allowed to weigh in their largest 5 fish at the end of the event.
In second place was the Paragould, Arkansas team of Daryl and Jason Masingale with a weight of 74.65 pounds and earning $1,250.00. Daryl and Jason were fishing the Pine Bluff pool in 40 feet of water using skipjack. The team caught a total of 12 fish for the day and received the $100.00 Monster Rod Holder bonus award.
Third place went to the Corinth, Mississippi team of Phil King and Tim Haynie with a weight of 64.45 pounds and earning $750.00. Phil and Tim were fishing down river below the dam in 20-30 feet of water using skipjack for bait to catch a total of 10 fish for the day.
John Troutt of Newbern, Tennessee and Eugene Cherry of Martin, Tennessee took fourth place with a weight of 37 pounds.
Rounding out the top 5 teams was Larry Massey of Pine Bluff, Arkansas and Dennis Craig of Redfield, Arkansas with a weight of 32.95 pounds.
Cabela's King Kat Kids Free Fishing Rodeo
"We also had 15 kids fishing the Cabela's Kids Rodeo where the Arkansas DNR stocked the pond prior to the event. I would like to thank Brett Crow for his help with the kids event", said Tournament Director, Tanner Tabor.
