Prespawn Bass in North East Georgia
I recently moved to NE Georgia and have been looking for a smaller lake to fish in. I found just that. After months of asking around I finally got what I wanted. I went fishing on a 15 acre private lake. conditions were not good , It had rained a lot the night prior . So, the lake was very muddy from all of the run off. To boot it was very windy. I spent most of the getting blown around the lake. I had a couple short strikes , but nothing would commit to my arsenal of lures. I was very close to loading my boat back up onto it's trailer , when I thought I was snagged on the bottom. I still reared back on m rod, to pull it free. I then thought my lure was free , because my line went a little slack. I was wrong I had hooked a big one. I was scared of loosing this fish, I was only using 8lb line. I had to tighten my drag to keep this fish from getting tangled up in under brush or worse, breaking my line off on a rock. I got the fish in pretty quick. I was shaking when I saw this fish come up beside of my boat. I relaxed a little when I saw my 5/0 hook firmly anchored in it's upper lip. I am once again very impressed with the creature bait, the space monkey. I feel a little weird proclaiming my confidence in such a strangely named lure , but it produces time and again. It has become my #2 confidence lure.
