PA Anglers Win Faro Blanco Invitational
Emmett and Chris Patterson of Hanover, Pa., won the grand championship at the Faro Blanco Invitational Tarpon Tournament that ended May 25 in Marathon.
The Pattersons landed eight tarpon to take top honors.
Second place went to Indiana residents Glen Lubeznik of Michigan City and Jerry Hoover of Hanna. The duo ended the tournament with seven fish.
Finishing third, also with seven fish but placing behind the Indiana team based on time, were Augie Estrada from San Antonio, Texas, and Jerry Sondag of Pelican Rapids, Minn.
According to the tournament?s round-robin format, each team fished with a different guide on each of the three nights of fishing. The teams also rotated fishing spots, hunting their tarpon at a different bridge location each night.
Top guide in the tournament was Captain Jason Long, who led his anglers to eight fish. Captain Mike Taute finished second with seven fish, while Captain Kevin Goodwin, also with seven fish, finished third based on time.
Tournament organizers said the event raised $46,400 for the Ronald McDonald Summer Camp program.
A record turnout of 110 anglers on 38 boats released 124 fish.
