New Shimano Chronarch Reels

A decade-long standard for the serious bass angler, Shimano?s Chronarch baitcasting reels jump to new level of performance with the 2012 models. The new Chronarch E series now includes 200 and left-hand retrieve 201 size reels in 7:1, 6.5:1 and 5.5:1 gear ratios, and compact-size Chronarch 50 and left-hand retrieve 51 reels in 6:4.1 gear ratios.

With this new series line-up, ?we provide Chronarch anglers with the right reel, in the right size and right gear speed, for just about any and all bass fishing techniques,? said Kenichi Iida, Shimano American Corp.?s reel product specialist. ?The Chronarch reels have long been the choice for anglers who have taken their bass fishing to the next level, and we give them the right fishing tool to help with their success at that level.?

The new Chronarch E reels feature a long-list of proven Shimano features including High Efficiency Gearing, a Lo-Mass drilled spool system and Super Stopper. For smoothness and durability, each has a shielded A-RB ball bearing, five shielded SUS bearings, and a roller clutch. The six 200 size reels weigh in at 7.6-ounces, while the compact 50 size reels weigh 7.1-ounces.

In terms of the amount of line retrieved per crank, the Chronarch E7 reels pull in 30-inches, the E6 reels pull in 27-inches, while the E5 reels are capable of 23-inches. Each model with handle 155 yards of 10-pound test mono, or when using PowerPro, 120 yards of 50-pound. The Chronarch 50E and 51E reels can haul in 25-inches of line per crank, and holds 85 yards of 10-pound test mono or 105 yards of 30-pound PowerPro.

?Anglers fishing on a more professional level are just as concerned about how much line comes in per crank of the handle as they are with gear ratio specs,? Iida said. ?Plus we?re seeing more and more use of braided line like our PowerPro braid for certain bass fishing techniques ? we?ve built the Chronarch reels to handle any situation.?

Iida adds that the color scheme on new Chronarch E series reels matches up well with Shimano?s new IM-10 graphite Crucial rods - there are models available for every bass fishing technique including worm and jig rods, drop shot, frog, spinnerbait and crankbait rods, along with top water and swimbaits.
