Eleven Mile State Park will host the last event of the Colorado Classic Ice Fishing Tournament ice fishing series, the "Marina March Madness," on March 5. All three tournaments are presented by the Sports Column and produced by the 11 Mile Marina. Marina March Madness is a unique and fun contest, held in a designated area at the North Shore with five separate one hour contests paying cash for first fish, and first, second and third place by weight for any species.

As part of March Madness, a basketball court will be set up on the ice near the Marina. Try your skill at free throws and three-point shots for additional cash and prizes. This team event, for two anglers, begins at 7:00 a.m. and ends at 2:30 p.m. For additional details, entry forms and full South Park Ice Master results go to www.11milesports.com or call the marina toll free 1 (877) 725-3172.

There was also the optional Big Fish Pot which pays 100% of the money paid in by participating teams. This year?s pot was worth $1,240.

Danny Aldez and Kelvin Martinez of Leadville won with a total weight of 7.515 pounds and landed a qualified big fish of the day with a rainbow trout, weighing in at 4.730 pounds, for a total cash prize of $2,460. Ford Williams and Perry Aphelbeck of Silverthorne came in a close second at 7.050 pounds total weight for a payday of $1,016. Twenty-two teams won cash prizes.
