Last chance at the open water

I was heading out to one of my favourite spots for walleye/northern pike realizing it could be my last before the ice. The boat ride was chilly, the water was cold and the fish were hungry. I was out with my best friend and we were having such a great time it didn't matter if the fish were there or not, but they were. We managed to hook into some nice size walleye and northern pike. When you feel that fish fighting at the other end of the line you completely forget how cold it really is and as you hold the fish up for a picture you don't realize how freezing cold the fish is and that your hands will be numb for a while after. This time of year is my favourite time to fish because on the really cold days it is likely that you are the only boat on the water.
