King Kat Tournament to Hold Qualifier at Gallipolis

The Cabela's King Kat Tournament Trail and the Gallia County CVB will be hosting a qualifying event at Gallipolis, Ohio on August 28, 2010. This years event should be overwhelming after last years very successful event. This is the opportunity for local catfish anglers to compete for cash, prizes and a chance to advance to the Cabela's King Kat Classic to be held on the Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway at Columbus, Mississippi.(Guaranteed payback of $5,000.00 to the top 15% of the field)The Cabela's King Kat Tournament Trail is the opportunity for catfish anglers and clubs to advance to a new level with a major payback and media recognition for their abilities. The trail is a team event. Teams will consist of one or two persons with one exception. A third person may accompany the team provided the third person is under 16 years of age or over 65 years of age. Entry fees for these qualifier tournaments are $200.00 per team.The tournament weigh-in will be held at Gallipolis City Park Boat Ramp. Tournament hours are 6:30 AM until 3:00 PM. All anglers must be in weigh-in line by 4:00 PM with a 5 fish limit per team. To help preserve the sport only live fish will be weighed in and all fish will be released after the tournament. For a complete list of rules phone or visit our website listed below.Participants may enter by mail or at the late registration to be held at the host hotel from 5:00-7:00pm or at the mandatory meeting at 5:30am tournament morning at the weigh-in site. Deadline for mail in entries is 14 days prior to the event. All entries after that date will pay a $25.00 late fee. The top 20 teams at each qualifying event will qualify for the Cabela's King Kat Classic. Also at each qualifying event field test products from national sponsors will be drawn for following the tournament weigh-in.This event will be sponsored by the Gallia County CVB. Free Cabela's King Kat Kids Fishing Rodeo

In conjunction with the tournament the Cabela's King Kat Tournament Trail will hold the Cabela's King Kat Kids event at the Bob Evans Farm Pond. The Bob Evans Farm is located on State Route 588 just off U.S. Route 35. For more information on Bob Evans Farms visit their website at: www.bobevans.com/Default.aspx. The event is free of charge and open to all youth 12 and younger. Sign up is from 8:00 AM till 9:00 AM with the Kids Fishing Rodeo from 9:00AM until 11:00AM. All children will receive a prize just for entering. Bring your favorite rod, reel and bait and show your true fishing ability. All children must be accompanied by parent or guardian. Prizes for winners will be given in two age groups, 0-7 and 8-12. Each child will be registered for a chance at 1 of 6 $2,000.00 scholarships to be drawn for October 3rd.

  • 8:00AM-9:00AM-Childrens registration for Kids Rodeo and sign up for scholarship.
  • 8:55AM-Announcment of rules and introduce staff and special guest.
  • 9:00AM-Children start fishing.
  • 11:00AM-Children stop fishing and bring fish to be counted.
  • 11:15AM-Awards and prizes will be presented to Children.
