Island Grill Charity Dolphin Tournament Approaching
#This Father?s Day weekend the winner of the Island Grill Charity Dolphin Tournament could put $5,000 in his or her pocket.Competitors in the tournament, set for Friday and Saturday, June 17-18, target dorado for prizes while they raise money for Baptist Hospital Children's Cancer Center. The event is described as a Keys favorite, family-friendly annual event.A $5,000 first prize is to be awarded for the largest total combined weight of three dolphin caught on a single boat. Second and third prizes are $1,000 and $500, respectively. Prizes also are to be awarded for the most unusual catch, largest tuna and wahoo, and to top male, female and junior anglers.A kick-off party, registration and rules meeting are scheduled for 6 p.m. Friday, June 17, at Island Grill, mile marker 85.5 oceanside in Islamorada. A sit-down dinner of barbecue ribs and fresh mahi-mahi follows.Registered anglers are to fish Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and part of their catch is to be prepared for the cocktail hour and awards dinner set for 7 p.m.Sunday, June 19, is designated a Father?s Day fun day at Island Grill. Attractions include free kids? activities and live entertainment.
