ICAST is having Curtin Calls all over the internet
I enjoyed following ICAST 2010 thoroughly this year.
I am 57 years old and not able to work anymore, due to the limited use of my feet and hands from peripheral neuropathy that I got from having an illness from a mosquito bite in 1978. I wasn't fishing. I was playing golf when it happened and it put me in a comma for six weeks. When I recovered the doctors said that I might have some neurological damage and told my wife to watch me. Well, it took twenty years for it to show up and here I am taking care of the house and fishing every chance I get. What's all this have to do with ICAST? I now have the time to spend absorbing all that I can about how modern technology is helping the fisherman today. And, did I ever absorb ICAST. It was practically on every fishing, canoeing, boating, kayaking, camping, ect. site on the internet. It still is almost everywhere you surf the web. Talk is thick about all the new products and so on that came out of that show. I spent hours daily watching every Bass Pro and Company Representative explain what the new stuff can do for me. Oh yeah, I spent hundreds of dollars on some of it and I'm planning on spending more in the very near future. I think the show did and is doing exactly what it intended to do. Make us go out and buy a lot of the new fangled object that we desire to make our outdoor experience better. We hope. One of my favorite purchases was made on a planned trip to my Bass Pro Shop to buy the new Koppers Live Target Frog Life-Like Lure (Hollow body). I'm so excited to get out to try it. But, wait. I can't until I get the proper equipment. You see this frog was over $25 and I'll need to make sure it's treated right before I throw it into the quagmire to catch the big one. I'll need some 65 lb. braid line and a 7 ft. stiff action rod with a high speed reel to make it all work. Be careful ICAST is still lurking around out there. They'll get you (if they haven't already). I'll say no more. ICAST will say it for me. Until next year when we'll do it all over again. But, I am proud of that frog. Proud enough to hold it up in all it's glory for you to see in the picture with this article. We'll do this again next year.
