GOOD DAY ON THE RIVER

GOOD DAY ON THE RIVER
Today started out slow but things eventually picked up.

Foggy and calm, so you would think the fish would be hitting like crazy. They weren't hitting at all, two hours of hard fishing with zero results.  A little after 8:00 am is when the action started.

I caught a decent Small Mouth on a XPS Popper.

Gotta treat those like gold.

A few casts later with the same bait landed  a Pike.

I love Pike, hopefully we can hook up again sometime.

Shortly after that I caught a Large Mouth.

It inhaled the Popper.  The Bass Pro XPS Popper with red hooks was on fire. I caught those three fish in a span of twenty minutes or so.

I did my best to get the lure out without ripping the gills to pieces.

The Bass seemed to swim away ok.

I caught that fish dragging a Craw Fatty through the mud.

With the fog burning off and some sun starting to break through I decided to put the pond hopper in fifth gear and head to a different spot. I was doing three km an hour max in the pond hopper, that's fifth gear.

Time to break out the Bleeding Buzz.

That Buzz Bait was brand new a couple days ago, the skirt is falling apart, the red is wearing off the hook, and it's bent out of shape, but the fish still seem to hit it.

I caught that little Pike on a Scum Frog.  The hook was in it's mouth and the rubber part was half way up the line.

Above is a Beaver Hut Bass caught on a Craw Fatty.

What started as a foggy tough bite day, turned into a nice good hard hitting day of fishing.

Persistence paid off.
