Fishing With 'Spider-Man'

Last spring, Braden Draper went fishing on a family farm, in Spencer County, KY, with his grandparents. Braden threw in his line and a couple minutes later he began yelling for his Papaw, "Help! Help!" When papaw turned around he noticed Braden reeling in what seemed to be a very large fish, based on the way the pole was bent! Braden was able to get the fish reeled all the way to the bank, by the time Papaw made it over to help him! They reached in & grabbed the fish and quickly realized he'd caught a big one! It was a 5lb largemouth bass, measuring 20ins. long. We're still amazed that his little Spider-Man pole didn't snap, but I think it's safe to say, this was an amazing FIRST fishing experience for Braden!

This photo was taken during an incredible morning on the water with my best friend. We were fishing his private lake near Eagle River,WI near the end of summer. His family has owned a cabin on this lake since 1954. I have been visiting with him since I was about 7 years old and this is where I discovered my passion for fishing. We hit the water early in the morning and began throwing top-water baits in about 8 foot of water. We were casting over a hard sand bottom with sporadic patches of grass and hydrilla that sometimes reached the surface. I put 4 smallies over 20€³ in the boat within an hour. This was the kicker. 21€³ 5lbs — 4ozs. Caught on a Jackall Pompadour. 15 lb fluorocarbon line on a Daiwa Tatula. 7€² MH Duckett Ghost rod. I had my GoPro recording and have this entire cast to catch caught on film.
