Salmon with ginger
FAVOURITE FISH RECIPEIt's funny when people ask me for advice on cooking fish because despite the time I spend on the water and the amount of fish I catch over the course of the year I seldom keep any to eat. A couple times a year however I do try a few different fish and recipes and I thought I'd share my favourite with you so that you may try something different as well. This summer I took a charter salmon fishing on Lake Ontario which I have written about in one of my other blogs so I needed a recipe that was easy and sounded tasty with fresh salmon. Years ago I had bought a Bradley smoker which I haven't been using near enough so what better scenario than this to kill two birds with one stone. I found a recipe for Ginger and Garlic Roast Smoked Salmon which looked easy and sounded good, both proved to be true in my opinion.To make this you can also just use the oven as I didn't bother with as many smoke pucks as recommended and it was just as good. The ingredients are as follows:2 pounds of salmon fillets or steaks6 cloves of crushed garlic4 oz (125 ml) finely shaved ginger root6 oz (175 ml) melted butterSeasoning or lemon pepperSaltTo go along with the meal I made a salad and Mushroom rice but as it's a rich dinner I'm sure there are many other options.Next time you are thinking of making something different try this out and give me some feedback.
