“Where do these fish go in the summer and fall?” Aaron Martens asked aloud as he rigged up a junebug-color worm for Elimination Round 3 of the Jack Link’s Major League Fishing 2016 Shell Rotella Challenge Cup on Lake Harris.
“That is the question we are hopefully about to answer,” Martens continued, diving into a one of his signature soliloquies on bass fishing. “We have all been here multiple times in the spring, but everything then is about the spawn; all we really care about is where are they going to spawn.
“We never have had to figure out where they go when they’re done spawning on this lake, but it’s something I’ve wondered about before,” he continued. “It’s just a big flat bowl out there: where do they go? Offshore? What do they relate to out there? Do they just hang around the shoreline? Do they bury up in that Kissimmee grass?
“So many questions we all have right now,” he added while cinching a knot tight to the junebug worm. “So-o-o many questions. It’s going to be interesting to get out there this time of year and see where these fish live.”

A few boats down, Mike Iaconelli was poring over his Lake Harris map.
“Looking at this map, a lot of memories come popping up – and most of them are not good,” Ike said with a laugh. “Florida has been a thorn in my side most of my career. I’ve had a couple of good events here, but mostly it’s been a challenge for me.
