Final ABA Tournament For Division 126

Final ABA Tournament For Division 126

American Bass Anglers D126 held final 2011 tournament September 17-18 on Stockton Lake. It was the 2-day championship.

The weather was very unstable, with periods of heavy rain as well as thunder and lightning both days. The sun finally came out for a short while on Sunday. The wind was in the 10-15 mph range. Air temperatures were mid 70s to low 80s - water temperature in low 70s and dropping about a degree each day. The lake is down 4-5 feet and the fish seem to be in a transition mode.

Mark Moody took the lead Saturday with a 5-fish limit weighing 10.70 lb anchored with Big Bass of the day, a 2.44 lb largemouth. Carl Cox and Glenn Harrison also brought in 5-fish limits on day one.

Day two saw warmer temperatures, but heavier rain and the keeper fish seemed to be in hiding. Harrison was the only angler to find a limit and his weighed 12.02, which included Big Bass of the tournament a 2.74 lb largemouth that was more than enough for his to win the tournament with a total of 21.37 lbs.

Carl Cox took second place with a total weight of 13.52 lbs. Cox also gained enough points to win Angler of the Year, which earned him an invitation to a fish-off to be held in South Carolina October 22, 2011. Third place went to Robert Swearingin with 11.53 lbs.

Anglers were greeted early Saturday morning by Boy Scout Troop 69 out of Stockton; the troop brought hot coffee, breakfast burritos, and sandwiches for lunch. This was all complements of D126 local sponsors, including Albers Marine of Arma, KS, Rogers Fishing, Hunting and Archery of Larmar, MO, Arrowhead Jigs of Aldrich, MO, and Ben Minor Marine Service of Parsons, KS.

American Bass Anglers offers low-cost, close to home tournaments for the week-end angler. Membership allows angler to choose from any ABA tournament anywhere in the nation. Boaters and non-boaters from age 14 years old and up are welcome and encouraged to join ABA and fish for cast, prizes and points that will qualify them to fish a National Championship.
