FAVORITE PLACE TO FISH: ST LAWRENCE RIVER - LAKE ST FRANCIS tweinz My favorite place to fish is the St Lawrence River and Lake St. Francis. They are the same body of water, it changes names at a certain point. It's a massive body of water that runs from Lake Ontario to the Atlantic Ocean. One of the great things about this area is that it offers almost every species of fresh water fish.Bass fishing is excellent and could easily be considered one of the best in Canada.A few years ago Charles Sim and Nigel Touhey set the Canadian record for a five fish bag in tournament angling. 30.35 lbs is pretty awesome for five Bass. The record was beat last year, but this remains the second best bag. It's nice to know those fish came from my area. On a side note Charles and Nigel fish in the series I am fishing in so hopefully they don't make a habit of catching big bags like that. The Berkley B1 also takes place in the area, The launch is in Valley Field Quebec but most make the 35 minute trip to Cornwall.Ben Woo the creator of the B1 is also is involved with some of the other tournaments on that body of water.I fish many areas of the river for Small MouthThe Long Sault area. The Ingleside areaThe Cornwall areaAnd east of CornwallLarge Mouth in those same areas is good as well. The Walleye fishing is pretty good in the area.Last year Bob and Darren Izumi won the Renegade Bass tournament in Cornwall. I talked with Bob and he really enjoyed this area, in fact so much he came back and filmed an episode of Real Fishing. Bob filmed the episode with Renegade Pro Jack Levert. That episode of Real Fishing will be airing this month, on August 27 if anyone wants to see what this area offers for Walleye angling.Pretty much every other species of fresh water fish are in the area. The Carp fishing is pretty amazing, I don't do much of it, but when you get the monster on it's a heck of a fight. The Canadian Carp Club out of Long Sault has much praise for the area.Pan fish are popular and plentiful.Pike fishing is a favorite of mine.I mainly fish Bass, but it's nice to be able to go out in the area and target different species. I have spent my whole life fishing this area and I try take full advantage of what it has to offer. I hope to have a real boat someday to be able to cover more of the river. Till then I'll just keep bouncing around in my little pond hopper.
