Fathers Day: Harrisburg

Fathers Day: Harrisburg
The fathers day I remember was spent floating down the Juniata River, starting at the  breast of the Raystown dam and floating down all the way to Harrisburg. Dad and I would start out early Friday morning and fish our way down the river, using a 12 ft jon boat, loaded down with a tent,  sleeping bags, a couple changes of clothes, fishing gear, and some food. The fish we caught would also be eatten, but not all, once we found a great spot to camp over night, we would set things up and do some more fishing in the evening before supper. We ate fish for the most part of 3 meals mixed with  what we also brough along with us. Once my dad pasted away Id take my 3 kids on those float trips following the same route that me and my dad took. Since we moved away from Penna and the kids grown up and went there own way I haven't done much floating rivers lately, But I now take my grand kids on fishing trips over the past several years, of course the 2 girls are not into doing that to much but my Grand son loves them. This year Eric and I plan to get a boat and possibly spend the day out on Beaverdam fishing and of course we will be taking a lunch with us plus a few snacks and drinks. If the weather gets to warm we'll put ashore someplace shady and fish from shore till it cools off before heading back. Eric and I will finish the day off by fishing for carp until dark. Dep[ending on how the day goes nad if Eric is up for it I'll treat him to a late supper before heading home
