Everything You Need to Know About the 2015 Bassmaster Classic
With the 2015 Bassmaster Classic quickly approaching, we have compiled a list of everything that you need to know about this year's event. Get all the facts and brush up on some Classic history.
Lake Hartwell, SC.
This year's Classic is being held on Lake Hartwell, SC. It is a large 56,000 acre lake that has over 962 miles of shoreline. Its size and diverse structure will make it a challenge for competitors to decide where and how to fish. To complicate matters further, there are both largemouth and spotted bass in the lake.
2008 Bassmaster Classic
The Bassmaster Classic was last held on Lake Hartwell in 2008. Alton Jones won this event with a three day total of 49 lb 7 oz. He beat Cliff Pace, who came in second with 44 lb 5 oz. Kevin VanDam made third place with 43 lb 8 oz.
A total of 56 anglers are competing in the 2015 Bassmaster Classic. They will be vying for the grand prize of $300,000 and the title of the Bassmaster Classic Champion.
Each morning at 7 am ET, competitors will launch from Green Pond Landing in Anderson, SC. Renovations at the location completed in December, and include a large three lane ramp. Fans are invited to come watch the pros launch each morning of the competition.
TD Convention Center, Greenville, SC.
The best way for fans to pass the time between the launch and weigh-in is to visit the Outdoors Expo. It is being held at the TD Convention Center in Greenville, SC. Here are the hours for the expo:
- Friday February 20: 12pm-8pm
- Saturday February 21: 10am-7pm
- Sunday February 22: 10am-4pm
The weigh-in for the Classic is being held at the Bon Secours Wellness Arena in Greenville, SC. The doors open each day at 3:15pm. Arrive early on Sunday to make sure you get a good seat for the final weigh-in.

Two Returning Champs
Randy Howell won the 2014 Bassmaster Classic and will be defending his title this year. Cliff Pace won the 2013 Bassmaster Classic, but was unable to compete last year due to an injury. Pace will be returning to compete again this year.

Kevin VanDam will not be competing in the 2015 Bassmaster Classic. It is the first year since 1990 that he failed to qualify for the Classic. VanDam placed third when the Classic was held on Lake Hartwell in 2008.
