Morning on a Cold Mountain Stream

This photo was taken on a recent backpacking trip into the cranberry wilderness of West Virginia’s Monongahela Nation Forest. We were hit with heavy snow storms and single digit temperatures but that didn’t stop us from going after the fish. We came across a school of golden rainbow trout while camping along the Cranberry River. In the photo you can see me trying to place the perfect cast in a very frigid river with my rod guides quickly freezing over. This photo truly captures the frozen beauty we were able to fish in all week.

42-LB Texas Cat

My friend Austin caught this huge catfish last Sunday around noon. He caught it on a jug line using live bluegill. Its a Opelousas Catfish weighing at 42 pounds! Its the biggest fish he has ever caught. He is super proud and I thought it would be a cool idea to enter him in this contest. He agreed to let me upload his story and photo!

Native Steelhead from the Past

Years ago when you could keep native steelhead I was fishing with my guide Jack ONeal on the Quinalt river and caught this beautiful 25 pound
steelhead, which I had mounted and have it on my wall today. These days you cannot keep native steelhead, I do miss fishing in retirement ville.
