10 Quality Turkey Guns for Under $600

by Jason Herbert   |  February 13th, 2013 3

It’s that time of year again, when for a few magical months each spring we take a break from whitetail hunting and whatever fishing trips we’ve planned to chase the ever-elusive longbeard. Turkey hunting is exciting, interactive and totally addictive. Hunters who are up for a more extreme challenge choose to bowhunt turkeys, while most welcome the chance to dust off the old shotgun and throw a bit of lead in the right direction.

A turkey gun really doesn’t need to be anything fancy; it just needs to shoot straight. That said, there are certain features that differentiate some turkey guns from the others. With any turkey gun, be sure to experiment with different loads and choke tubes. A decent turkey gun should be able to put a fair amount of shot in a paper plate from about 40 yards. As dedicated gobble addicts, we’ve compiled a list of the 10 cheap turkeys guns that still deliver quality.

Great article! thanks! It gives me some things to think about. Maybe I can get one of these for the upcoming turkey season. Keep the good info coming. I like the author's style!

I think you bring up some good points, and I like the fact that you featured some non-traditional turkey guns. In this day and age, most of us need to think about the pocketbook at the same time we try to quench our thirst for more time in the turkey woods. It is good to see some shooting platforms that can be used for more than one purpose – it sure will help me convince my wife that I "need" a new turkey gun this season!

Good article, especially the mention of the over/under Maverick. many times the double guns get looked over during Turkey season. Maybe a top 10 list for double barrel guns? Just a thought. Thanks again.
