Don’t Shoot! 6 Shots A Bowhunter Should Never Take

HEAD ON

You may have seen the debates online about this shot opportunity. Folks claim they can make it every time, and that if you know what you are doing, this is a dead deer.

Don't Shoot! Do not get hooked by the bravado and chest thumping -- it is a bad decision every time. The window into the vitals is small and the slightest error will result in a tracking job that may very well not lead to a deer -- only frustration, disgust and a loss of confidence.

I thought when I sent in my money that I was signing up for the magazine that comes once a month. This is not what I signed up for.

    • Rodney Krick

I was never happy with my service from them. I didn't get some issues. I would see new issues on the stands but never get them through my subscription. I notified them and they said they were going to extend my time for the problems and when that didn't happen I stopped paying for it. I now get only the ones I really want at the store. Even though it costs me more money at least I know I will get it.

So you are complaining that you get free, additional information, on top of that which the magazine offers? Or are you just complaining that some of this information seems benign to an advanced hunter. Realize that everyone has not been at this a while. Way too many complainers nowadays…

      • Tim's and idiot

Tim your an idiot… plain and simple. They paid for something they did not receive. Do you really support companies that rip their customers off? Is this the kind of person you are and the things you stand for? He said he called them, they said they would extend it but didn't, so he cancelled his subscription. Tim Tim Tim. TIM TIM TIM!

its a fatal shot. thoe your goinng to open the gut,so get your deer, gut it wash it.

when you take a shot under your tree stand, make sure your bow limb is not in contact with your stand, and first when you practice this shot, your going to find out its not going to be your 10 or 5 yard pin, its going to be your 15 or 20 pin.

I've been bow hunting for 44 years, this is an extreamly unethical shot, that will 9 times out of 10, result in a wounded, lost deer. Only a novice idiot would take the shot. Let him walk for another day!

  • Paul A.

I agree with Dennis, I know from experience that this is a shot that should not be attemped.More times than not this will result in a unrecovered animal. Wait for a better angle or another day. I have learned the hard way years ago.
